A Dense Cadre of Public Pilferers

     Madison, Wisconsin                                                  Associated Press

The political events unfolding in Madison, Wisconsin, and other states of our American union, are really bestial blows against a republican form of government. Certain elected public servants have brazenly abandoned the civic responsibilities entrusted to them by Wisconsin citizens. The whole electorate has an expectation, and rightly so, that public servants perform their duties, not avoid them by running away to a neighboring state. A relatively small number of deviant servants have obstructed due process by boldly evading parliamentary proceedings, neglecting the public trust temporarily placed in their hands. At the same time, another worrisome sect of non-elected public servants, aided by young and impressionable patrons, dressed in Soviet colors, and espousing antiquated anti-capitalist sentiments, captured the Wisconsin capitol building in a most brutish and despoiling manner, blatantly disrespecting the public’s property, as if these mobocrats were actually the true agents of all the wise and virtuous people of Wisconsin.

This is not the Paris Commune of 1848; it is somewhat similar to the Haymarket Riot of 1886, thankfully without the lead and dynamite, but plenty of anarchists to go around. There is more than enough room outside the capitol building, or in the ballot box, to peacefully assemble and assert first amendment rights in a proper manner that ascribes to the best tenets of civic participation and republican principles. Partisans have crowned themselves lords of the realm up there in Madison, Wisconsin, intimidating, disgracing, and exploiting the governing process. Their names should not even be mentioned, because they do nothing of value. The deed defines their creed, and resides in the public forum for all to dissect.

Wisconsin turmoil is not about protecting or advancing democracy and labor rights, as some of the well paid celebrified punditry, streaming through various mediums, choose to frame the debate; it is actually the last embolden strokes of a threatened bureaucratic elite, and the internecine fractures of an entrenched aristocracy, and both of these societal elements are pulling the rest of us in perverse directions. There are too many odious and long-standing practices that have nestled in our governing systems, taking a contrary path to the one that is clearly and legitimately marked by the rule of law, civic virtue, moral responsibility, and national interests. These four human conceptions converge to protect and promote the general welfare of the whole community, with an emphasis placed on the whole community. Right now, we have splintered factions in our midst that think they represent the whole community. What do you expect when there are many American citizens who do not vote and do not participate in this noble governing experiment? There is nothing virtuous or civic, good or just, about any of the licentious political displays, distorting combinations, and subversive natures that have manifested themselves in Madison, Wisconsin, in other state capitols, and inside the District of Columbia, generally.

We should not reward the misguided conduct of a few well placed participating actors; but, in fact, when they do manifest themselves in such a crude form, corralled in a public forum, for all of us to witness, every law-abiding citizen that cherishes common decency, tempered approaches, and a proper decorum should harshly condemn it when it rises above the law, and makes unusual and intrusive approaches on individual liberty. More importantly, the unlawful individuals maneuvering in the shadows deserve more scrutiny, but are harder to see than the public appearances, because the activities are conducted under the cover of darkness.

At the moment, the whole population of Wisconsin is being rudely pushed aside by narrowed political interests, seen and unseen, which serve an elite cast of characters. This is a microcosm of our current political perplexities. An upsetting and unduly influential crew has breached the public peace, engaged in political manipulation and subterfuge, only to advance an insolent, paternalistic, outdated, and financially fatigued social agenda. The despicable denizens of absolute democracy that emerged in Madison disregarded the lawful pursuits of legal elections, abandoned the proper course of normal legislative procedure, and repudiated republican principles.

In Article Four, Section Four, of the U.S. Constitution, you know, that quaint piece of parchment ALL citizens, elected and non-elected, are bound to abide by, “[t]he United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a republican form of government.” You may ask yourself what is a republican form of government? This notion will be explored with greater specificity in a future addition to this blog site. But, for the time being, there are many individuals who confuse the concepts of democracy and republic. They are not interchangeable governing systems, although, one may find superficial similarities between the two. When we begin to peel back the layers, specific differences are revealed between them, and the contrast becomes clearer to the enquirer.

A democracy, in the truest sense of the concept, is the absolute rule of a majority, whenever constituted, whether enlightened by reason or enraged by passion. A republican form of government attempts to hold majorities and minorities accountable to the rule of law, which maintains equal justice, to prevent any constituent component of our vast federative union from becoming too powerful and influential. If America was ever turned into an absolute democracy – as it was, momentarily, when marauding protestors in Madison took over the capitol building, acting like a troop of wildcats in heat - a majority could simply write any law, erect any procedure, appropriate any sum, perform any action, simply according to the sheer force of numbers, at any time a majority is conjured up, irrespective of how many assembly seats are occupied. It is slightly similar to a tyranny, not residing in a single person, but in a despotic rowdy mass. A republican form of government inserts several barriers of checks to avert democratic, tyrannical, and anarchical perversities from grinding away the fundamental rights and privileges bequeathed to us by our ancestors.

Spectacles of moral depravity conducted by public servants, and private citizens, are not new, and will not suddenly disappear from the human species, but they are real blemishes, nonetheless, when they occur. Private individuals do enough harm to society. If our public officials harbor these natural dispositions, and their actions are driven by distempered passions, it is a dangerous and unsteady proposition to contend with, and it will only end up tarnishing America’s national character, eventually bringing all of us disgrace, ultimately diminishing the sacred blessings of self-government that enable us to enjoy Liberty and Independence.

Most of our republican governments are snagged in a burdensome budgetary web. Various participants, active and passive, past and present, seen and unseen, have steadily increased its sticky grip, and the tacky fibers are being felt by many of us. Virtually all of our republican governments around the nation, particularly at the state and federal level, are trying to extricate themselves from an intricate fiscal entanglement. This feeble fabric of insolvency was first woven several decades ago. Many of our most notable ancestors, and several of our most dearly beloved contemporaries, have erected a number of burgeoning bureaucratic fiefdoms, supposedly instituted for our own protection and well being, but they are really stifling economic innovation and personal independence. Every government - local, state, and national - extracts a great measure of tribute, in some form or fashion, to support and sustain a consortium of legislative, administrative, and regulatory instruments. It’s a sad bit of commentary to even suggest, though, that most taxpayers, who are not considered wealthy, or elite, are in risk of becoming the vassals of feudal lords.

American taxpayers, wealthy and not so wealthy, by any reasonable standard used to define such an abstract term, have been called upon to provide for a multitude of unnecessary services and functions, most especially on the federal level, that only prop up and protect a retinue of salaried pensioners and their suckling regimes. Not only does this prospect divert valuable resources from citizens and their respective state governments, it adds distracting duties to the federal government. It’s now up to vigilant and law-abiding citizens to run straight forward in to the difficult task of peacefully dismantling the most burdensome feudal structures and wasteful inefficiencies that have placed many tortuous obstacles, and cultivated several debilitating relationships, that stand in the way of our local, state, and national interests. We need to return the light of prosperity to the true proprietors of this republic.

Citizens and public servants have a special relationship. Each of them have solemn obligations to the other, and share the same rights, when they enter into the public contract. We arrived at this point of budgetary duress and tax inequities because of the people’s active and passive support throughout the years. Our federal structure, more specifically, has amassed a public workforce, and assumed too many state and private responsibilities, that are wasting, and diverting, valuable resources from the national purse. The federal government has become one very large state government, and is losing focus on primary objectives. We should not passively sit around anymore as our public officials make extravagant disbursements on a multitude of misguided social adventures. Policies, guided by sincere intentions and zealous ideals, are concocted and conducted by numerous profiting fiefdoms, fervently supported by a dense cadre of public pilferers, squandering taxpayer money, only to perpetuate a nefarious nexus of patronage and nepotism.

It will be very difficult to deconstruct the most ruinous governing fiefdoms, especially those that have been built up and supported throughout the decades. Many have become formidable entities of self-interest, and every day these bureaucratic bastions remind us of their wasteful existence, and the enormous misapplication of public discretion and treasure that denotes their activities. Every bloated block laid over the years eventually rose to a great height that is now struggling under its own weight. The inhabitants on the other side have buttressed the towering walls with a large amount of influence and power. They usually keep quiet in their privileged fortress, at least during tranquil times, and under normal circumstances, hoarding particular expertise and specific information, using it to gain even more budgetary advantages and political leverage.

A mote of long standing legal precedents, and misconstrued congressional authority, encircles these intractable territories. This veneer of legitimacy that our ancestors have neatly constructed has finally succumbed to the erosion of time and circumstance. A new generation is standing on the verge of the realm, looking forward to the challenge that is before them. They have placed the well funded fiefdoms under legal siege, trying to contain the menacing misconstruction of enumerated powers, and slowly reducing the awful ramparts that protect them. The precious and uncertain path of Liberty, on every strenuous step advanced by the human species, has witnessed fabulous rewards and gracious benefits; although, several times along the way, many societal travesties and curious conundrums have accompanied us on this never-ending journey, every time we dutifully surmounted them, and it was never precise, clean, and easy.

A daunting task is right in front of American citizens, as it always is. We only muster a solid resolve when something has smacked us in the face. Do you know the story about closing the barn door after the horse has left the barn? Well, the horse has galloped away, running aimlessly in the pasture, with no rider holding the reins. As for the barn door, it, too, no longer exists. It was unhinged and torn asunder by utopia’s whimsical winds. As a matter of fact, the horse left the barn through the gaping holes in the walls, and the fences are in such disrepair, they did not keep the horse contained. It should also be noted, the horse was afraid the roof would collapse, and did not trust the maintenance crew’s repeated claims to fix it, even though the roof only leaks when it rains.

American citizens are now being forced to take a good hard look at the structure, gazing into the bowels of their governing institutions, and they do not like the fiscal incompetence, neglect, contempt, and excessive misuse of power they see. A great number of non-essential and un-elected public servants, who were supposed to maintain the structure, and who constitute a small minority of the general population, have become a burdensome bureaucratic barrier to real political reform. Many governing officials have become a special caste of scribes, and are a powerful lobbying force that propagates ruinous regulations and sophisticated social formulas. They are a formidable and influential class of taxpayer subsidized plunderers. They possess all the remedies, can accurately predict future outcomes, and will easily deploy political gimmicks, to rid human existence of natural plagues. Wise and attentive citizens are now scrutinizing every budget item and public servant, elected and non-elected, and determining if they have any utility, purpose, and constitutional necessity. No longer will American citizens have their hard earned wages arrogantly depleted by a group of unaccountable servants dispensing taxpayer money to themselves, and the self-interested favorites peddling profuse platforms.

The Demagogue’s Benevolent Disguise

The demagogues are out in full force. This elusive sort of species clings to a waning influence, covets a fleeting power, and boldly exploits unhinged passions. In the people’s name, they’re on a perpetual quest to seek out and destroy the multi-headed Hydra that will gobble up your fundamental rights and ancient privileges. Its flashy appearance is brilliant enough to even blind the most discerning eye. It descends from the lofty clouds in the sky, and freely dwells among mere mortals. It wears a benevolent disguise, holding all the answers, looking quite like a concerned patriot, but the garb that drapes this individual is patched together by an artifice of cynical sinews that reach out and encircle reason and logic until they are both confounded by an intricate design.

The human mind is fully equipped with the necessary capabilities needed to deconstruct the distorting devices hurled at it by external forces. It also has a unique ability to be stimulated by corrupting internal perceptions, and, finally, disgraced by corrosive actions. Every Liberty loving participant residing in this American Republic, possessing the requisite mental faculties, must engage in a rigorous and thorough effort to peacefully disassemble the demagogue’s self-interested subterfuge. Human history is filled with the manipulative engines of political profit, which wage an intractable and eternal contest to curry populist favor, and stoke public furor, for personal rewards, just at the right moment, when the time is ripe enough for the picking. All along the laborious path of human Liberty a wise and virtuous citizenry have persistently worn down the conniving charlatans that divide and conquer.

Every day the Sun shines across this great land of republican governments brings with it a new opportunity to seize upon. Opportunities are plentiful in America. Most citizens take full advantage of this natural resource that rejuvenates itself on a daily basis. A great majority of citizens engage in honest adventures for great personal advancement, with plenty of societal benefits for their family and friends. There are a few – very loud and visible - dishonest adventurers taking advantage of a large set of circumstances for personal gain, with no societal benefit attached. Opportunistic vagabonds are currently on a societal rampage across the nation. The diversity of exaggerated opinions, and outlandish assumptions, is truly outstanding, and the more moderate streams of consciousness is dangerously diluted in the process. We are constantly being subjected to extreme heresies that nurture doubt, coddle suspicion, and sour public sentiment. We cannot escape the daily bombardment of fallacious assertions and hasty generalizations that are fired indiscriminately in all directions.

Demagogue’s cherish a frenzied mass, obstruct due process, upset the rule of law, proper order, and republican principles, all the while gathering up a host of duplicitous flatterers that follow close by, waiting to be deployed on mass, fully exploited to fulfill nefarious enterprises that manufacture distracting sideshows to keep us busy. This crew of misdirecting partisan pillagers travel around America through various mediums, bringing with them a covered wagon filled up with ideal evils, ruinous frights, ghoulish specters, collusive connections, tortured conjectures, conspiratorial concoctions, destructive combinations, awful appearances, and malicious machinations that will be let loose, at a moment’s notice, amidst a chaotic atmosphere, if you dare disagree with them. Harrowing uncertainties always push human beings toward the quick and easy route. The false comfort zone of certainty finds shelter in counterfactual assertions, human invention, lazy dispositions, and utopian testimonies professed by vociferous personalities that cultivate civic unrest, and self-aggrandizement.

American history, and the history of humankind, is littered with the horrific claims of the end time, and the demise of America. Creatures of pending doom and the peddlers of prophetic disasters joyfully dance around reality, history, reason, and the truth, making you climb a mountain of woe, always engaged in a speculative endeavor that neatly conforms to future outcomes. Catastrophic visionaries and conjurers of condemnation possess their own truth, but are merely carnival curiosities left over from an ancient minstrel order, one that is as old as human imagination itself. Step right up and receive a fancied treat. The fortune tellers are handsomely paid. This celebrified breed finds a readied banquet of fears to feast on, and paranoid patrons to indulge. A highly vigilant, morally tempered, and enlightened citizenry is the only barrier that has a chance of containing the menacing wave of malignant marauders eroding the shores of Liberty, Justice, and Reason. When American citizens stand firmly united against profiteering plunderers of public trust, treasure, and republican virtue, will the demagogue finally be unmasked and seen for what it is; a corrupter of justice, defiler of truth, deceiver of perceptions, and, ultimately, a weaver of worrisome portents, one that will produce paralyzing and tantalizing conundrums that require exhausting efforts to expose.

We need to cast out our weir of reason and logic to catch the drifting diviner of devastating perplexities. We must have a tightly constructed fishing net, and utilize its full capabilities. You need to cast it often and far. Let it fall gently into the deep sea of human introspection to ensnare the bountiful prize that lurks below the surface. We need to haul our bounty to the surface, drag it to the craggy shore, empty the contents on the sandy beach, get on our hands and knees, and scrutinize the catch in the light of day, with a thorough examination, so it can be determined what is real or fake. Plenty of things around here look safe to eat, but what is actually safe to eat is another investigation altogether that shows itself in the future. This laborious task is necessary for the existence of a republican government. Every now and again, the swift currents of time and circumstance churn up scrupulous specimen from the darkened depths of humanity, who prosper during the agitated turbulence emanating from a tempestuous environment. These fraudulent figures thrive on the unsettled brew that is drawn up from the lazy sediment, which is heaped into the swirling eddies of tyranny and anarchy, with a determined thrust, easily captured, then cravenly carried and deposited in a fantasy land of mystical ideals. Those who remain on the sound and unified bedrock, resisting the vexatious updraft of disorder, have a strong disposition not to be torn asunder by the whimsical fancies of shrewd and cunning characters seeking influence, fame, and power. Denounce the demagogue at every turn with reason and logic, and unmask its benevolent disguise for all to see.

The Sacred Bond of Union

When one tries to define the essence of the Union, the first objective for an inquisitive mind is to correctly identify the great formative principles and the national imperatives that caused the need to form a Union. American Liberty and Independence are the dual mandates that spawned the Union's special relationship with its constituent components, the states and the people. The Union's precious bond has been nurtured, protected, enlarged, and sustained for more than two centuries, and will possibly continue for two more centuries, so long as every citizen possesses a resilient reverence for the solemn obligations placed in their hands.

Every generation, for more than four hundred years, participated in a glorious production, courageously conducted out in the open for all eyes of the world to witness, and for all hearts to be comforted by a warm embrace. A marvelous cast of actors perform on this well lit stage. There is not a precise script written to be disseminated to a specific audience. There is not a single director providing absolute direction, nor are there a few profiting producers managing the whole process from a distant perch of wisdom. The bond that binds every citizen together is intimate, and in close proximity to all of us. This theatrical display of human invention is supported by the indissoluble fabric of freedom that entwines our passionate hearts and tempered minds.

This American Union of Republics is perpetual. It can only be strengthened and sustained by the merciful hands of vigilant citizens, lawfully acting through public councils that accomplish a beneficial advantage for the whole Union, while proliferating Liberty and Independence abroad. This demands a careful attention to our ancient charters of liberties that gave birth to freedom’s vessel, and the momentous history of its construction, so to make sure it proudly sails humanity's rambunctious seas with a firm purpose and steady resolve to transport the priceless jewels of human Liberty and Independence to unborn generations yet to draw a breath in freedom.

We are the beneficiaries of Liberty and Independence. They are both honorable commodities that Americans proudly cultivate, and cheerfully export. Nowhere on Earth have these rare elements been jealously cherished for so long, and in such a manner, as they have been in America. It is a spectacular process, pivoting on time and circumstances, how this ideal experiment turned out. When this Union was established, it was the only instrument of its kind. That seed spore of Liberty and Independence was taken by the eternal winds of humankind, virtuously spread across the nations of the globe, taking root in so many minds, and in so many hearts, which is a great testament of human history.

The friends of Liberty and Independence are now abundant and robust. America is one of the leading manufacturers of these shinning gems of human hope; however, we did not create these lofty notions, but definitely acted in a way that sought to preserve and extend them. They are magnificent resources from the distant ages of human history and achievement. America does not hoard, nor hide, these jewels from the rest of the world, it has generously shared these bountiful benefits with the honest people of the world that seek justice and freedom in their own time and style.

Every nation that sides with the friends of Liberty and Independence have made a determined commitment, and a virtuous pledge, to live in freedom while adhering to the universal practices of law, respect, and dignity. American citizens are not the only people that have the capacity to extract and unleash the enormous potential that is harnessed within the cherished bounties Liberty and Independence has provided for each of us. Each country of the globe is a sovereign entity, most have peaceful designs that follow the best practices of international relations, yet some continue to be hostile adversaries of the Liberty loving participants that join hands for common security.

Under the Union's nurturing embrace, Americans are the largest population of free people in the world. It is unfortunate that there are still too many people who do not feel the warmth of Liberty, and the dignity of Independence. American citizens are fortunate to be the sovereign proprietors of a vast continent of tremendous resources, gracious rewards, and profound responsibilities that are directly under our careful protection, requiring astute attention, and a merciful hand to administer. These highly valuable rarities are the special objects of this Union of Republican Governments, and the people who give their consent to its form and fashion. They are the legitimizing force propelling this great ship of Republics on a journey in self-government and civic virtue. We are all helmsmen on this vast voyage of personal discovery and human happiness. Each and every citizen holds a sacred trust that ultimately directs this virtuous vehicle of government toward a more secure and tranquil port, avoiding the tempting allurement of near-sighted adventures, and hastily arranged maneuvers for political expediency and reckless retribution. Our mutual destiny depends on the strength and duration of the Union's bond to assure that American Liberty and Independence does not disintegrate amidst the formidable adversaries and malicious manipulators of public peace, the rule of law, national sovereignty, equal justice, and human dignity.

The Union’s sole purpose is Liberty and Independence. It exists so that every American, and the individual states they reside in, can partake in the blessings of freedom, so to live in peace, happiness, and prosperity, among themselves, and with their friends. The Union exists to protect its integral parts from internal disorders and external subversion that inhibit our national interests. The Great Charter of American Government is the framework by which the Union’s stability, and agility, is actuated. In order for Liberty and Independence to exist, there must be domestic tranquility and external security. The Union, acting with a national voice and purpose only it can represent, commands respect, and holds a moral responsibility, to ensure that both prerequisites are strictly adhered to, and properly invested in. There is an explicit guarantee nestled in the charter of rights governing the conduct of this Union, it is simply to secure the blessings of Liberty and Independence that our ancestors have bestowed upon the citizens of America.

American government is a public corporation. Each citizen is a common shareholder with equal rights under the law. We are fully invested in a prime asset that comes with radiant rewards, as well as ruinous risks. We have a charter that guides our actions, and we elect board members to serve our interests, and an administrative apparatus sufficient enough to enforce the obligations we are all compelled to abide by. America has always been a commercial proposition. Many of the original colonies were entrepreneurial endeavors seeking profits, both spiritually and materially. Commercial vitality, and the freedom necessary to foster personal advancement, is one of the many primitive characteristics that constitute the essence of American Liberty and Independence. It is a fresh and enlightened spirit, emanating from a largely diverse and innovative moral force that is practically unparalleled in modernity. The extensive nature of American freedom and commerce requires a strong Union to manage the varied interests on this continent. We have cultivated an array of private and public alliances, with a wide range of freedom loving nations and friends all over the globe, that seek Liberty’s warm rays of hope, and the mutual honor and respect Independence brings to a free people.

The sanctity of the Union, and the sovereignty of our national Independence, will always exist to protect and preserve our consecrated liberties. The true barometer of our national character will only be determined by the level of law and justice that exists. America will continue to foster these great ideals at home and abroad with our commercial and strategic partners. The Union, and its governing system, is the tempered arbiter of our national will, molding disparate interests and parochial influences into a common voice with a superintending authority over specific national duties. The Union is a harmonizing venue. It assumes the various melodies, from a diversity of instruments, and renders them into one powerful movement, with one beautiful song. The Union's tune rings loud with Liberty and Independence, its vibrancy is carried by the universal notes of freedom.

Liberty, The Jewel of Humanity

WARNING: Do not break the law before, during, or after reading anything I mention.

American citizens will correct any imbalances that arise under their governing system. The great human notion of Liberty is not some quaint ideal relegated to the romantic pages of a forgotten and neglected history book that is placed out of reach, way up high on a dark and dusty shelf, deep in the bowels of a vast labyrinth of human knowledge. It does not reside in a dim and distant realm of fantasy; nor is it a mythologized force of fiction contorting itself into gross heresies that injuriously attach themselves to ignorant minds. Liberty is a perpetual endeavor, a constant objective, and prime mover, for every human being.

In America, for several generations now, fundamental precepts of constitutional practice have been loosened and extended, at times, wholly justified by proper acts for a national advantage; but, too many times, though, and in all the wrong places, Liberty’s prime principles have been slackened by the people’s neglectful attitude toward the prize. Each and every one of the citizens in America - the proprietors of a free and independent nation, who give their consent, and assent, to be governed by publicly elected servants - have inherited a solemn duty to secure Liberty’s most treasured blessings. The chief token among them, and most honorable pursuit, is self-government. It is through this instrument of the people that the mechanism for immeasurable benefits and happiness can be fully actuated. It also has a naturally perverse propensity to increase its jurisdictional purview at the expense of individual liberties.

Self-government is a supreme blessing for human advancement made under the rule of law, while also being a dubious scourge of humanity. In America the dual propensity of Liberty’s extremes are best managed by the people through their government. This endeavor will best protect our unalienable rights, and more than capable of diminishing the destructive components of majorities and minorities that accompany Liberty. Americans are the actual participating agents driving this constitutional engine. It moves as they move, always nourishing the life source of Liberty and the pursuit of happiness it provides, forever fueling this grand experiment in republican government, self-control, and personal responsibility that deserves exacting scrutiny and a disciplined rigor on the part of every citizen.

It seems as though American citizens are faced with a crisis of confidence in their governing arrangement. This has been the case since its inception. That amorphous fourth branch, who reigns in this restless realm of Liberty, cannot be easily pinned down in a neatly constructed category. It is a futile effort even to define its true essence, or accurately predict its proper movement. This is merely a marvelous symptom common to all people, over thousands of years, yearning for freedom and peace during their particular epoch.

All along this wondrous journey there were obnoxious obstacles placed in the glorious path of Liberty. It is too bad that there will always be foreign and domestic agitators and assailants of Liberty, personal freedom, human dignity, and the rule of law, who manufacture, then exploit, a contentious atmosphere perpetuating the antagonizing vexations that continually divide and distort perceptions, cynically accumulating more power and influence over the general welfare, while supposedly acting in its interest. They dangerously conjure up instances of inequities, artificially predefined distinctions, which, ultimately, sours public sentiment, denigrates the national and moral character of America, all at great risk and peril of undermining the great republican principles America, and its Liberty, rests upon.

The current domestic perplexities American’s are faced with cannot be summed up into one succinctly constructed proposition. These intricacies of social existence are not new and unique phenomena to the human species, and do not wholly reside in the temporary structure of our governing systems, or our domestic sentiments, generally, they are eternally housed in every heart and mind. American citizens, and other independent nations and peoples of the world, are still trying to comprehend the essence of Liberty, and figure out the appropriate measures needed to protect its enormous blessings. A fundamental objective for every independent and sovereign people is the preservation of their lives, liberties, and properties, which, once obtained, then jealously maintained, provides an environment for peace and happiness to thrive in. This is the general welfare of the community. The American governing system, more specifically, has assumed a substantial weight not suited for its primary voyage. There have been several ambitious additions, driven by noble intentions, accumulated over several decades, and is now in need of measured relief. The general welfare of the whole community has all too often been unfairly sacrificed for narrow and parochial interests that drive the painful practices of political expediency and mutual animosity. The great ship of state is always listing about the unpredictable societal seas, and constantly requires serious correction during tempestuous storms so it does not become debris in the strand line on history’s barren shores.

Our resilient system has changed for the better, climbed and crashed through tumultuous waves of civic unrest, having more freedom now then before, yet, sadly to say, not enough, even today. Most changes were for the better, and we still sail the seas with great purpose and resolve. But, at several critical junctures in American history, there were changes spurned on by an advantageous atmosphere of civic discontent, which inevitably leads to revenge politics and division, ultimately bringing national turmoil, disgrace, and contention. Our distant ancestors, and several of our most notable contemporaries, enacted numerous alterations not intended to be attached to the federal vessel, which unduly increased federal weight, and created a disturbing and debilitating imbalance of federal dependencies.

Obviously, necessary and proper structural changes have occurred over time. We are in a better place now due to the changes that have occurred. It does not take a genius to see the gracious benefits flowing from those needed alterations; but, there have been many constitutional constructions, consequently, that have produced an array of troubling realities, and several unforeseen externalities, we are currently forced to address. These constitutional extravagances and perversions of our governing principles have been a work in progress for some time. Although the American experiment in self government is far larger than any single generation, executive administration, congressional session, judicial construction, or bureaucratic fiat, but when they compile suspicious schemes and pernicious precedents over time, they amount to commonplace and lasting occurrences that may be beneficial, or harmful, to the sanctity of Liberty, and not easily altered. The virtuous citizens of the American Republic will endure as long as Liberty’s flame remains a well-regulated light for all to see and touch.

This republican system was erected because Liberty needed a sturdier and more moderate device to protect it from the passionate ravages and ignorance human beings act upon; the natural and destructive adversaries of Liberty are in direct opposition to the countervailing forces of peace, justice, equality, and happiness. A perpetual set of human crises has existed for more than a thousand centuries, they lay in the careful maintenance of Liberty’s delicate flame, and the control over its propensity to be smothered, or enraged into an uncontrollable inferno that is reminiscent of a state of nature. Liberty’s primitive extremes produce destruction, discontent, and division, and are usually accompanied by some form of tyranny, anarchy, or enslavement, of the body, mind, and spirit.

Innumerable generations have tangled with this eternal task given to us by our human ancestors, and yet the world is still teeming with all three maladies of societal perversion. When Liberty’s flame starts floundering and flickering we need to induce the embers, and reinvigorate the flame, with appropriate designs. On the other hand, when the flame starts to rage toward the heavens, and flees its well-regulated confines, we ease back on the fuel, and curtail its ferocity. Self-government, so far, is the best instrument to keep that flame under control, but only through the active, honest, and transparent operation of our governing apparatus will we be able to bequeath the blessings of Liberty to the unborn millions yearning to live in freedom. Each of us is personally responsible for safely transporting this jewel of humanity to another generation, and not let the flames consume the craft along the way.

Liberty is the object, self government is the actuator. How one attains it is dependent on the population that bears the legal responsibility to carefully maintain it. Liberty is a liberal notion, and its varying extremes carry destructive tendencies that undermine law and justice, the twin masts that help propel freedoms ship. The noble pilots of the revolutionary generation, just as imperfect as we are today – and, for sure, we are just as able at the helm – were faced with obscene obstacles that persist to this day. They installed a better regulator of Liberty’s ancient dual threats, tyranny and anarchy. These societal perversions have their origin in the intimate passions driving human action for thousands of years. These primitive aspirations are magnified in a large and free population. At times, human reason is dulled by the extreme elements that come with Liberty, and, at other times, enlightened by self-examination.

The relentless spirit of American freedom, and overbearing perseverance and purpose, swings with the peculiar circumstances of time and eternity. Never has there been so much freedom gained, and yet, we have so far to go, all of this being done without an accurate road map. History’s distant echoes tell us that Liberty is not easily controlled, let alone charted, and, at best, temporarily maintained. Liberty is an easier ideal to think about than it is to practice. The wise and virtuous citizens of America, and its future progeny, are in the enviable position to determine their own destiny. We will continue to face unforeseen instances of turmoil that challenge the essence of human Liberty and our national dignity. There is not a hint of doubt in this free and independent mind that American citizens shall continue to responsibly regulate, and surprisingly surmount, Liberty’s extreme propensities, with a vigilant and honest operation of their government. Whether this generation has success or failure, is up to it to decide, the next generation has the same gracious chance. This august project of Liberty’s careful maintenance is eternally woven in the hearts and minds of human kind to protect and carry it forward.

Rush Holt's Crusading Democrat Hoard

WARNING: Do not break the law before, during, or after reading anything I mention.

Rush Holt is propped up by several contributions from political entities, some well known, and others not so. Public servants exist to serve in the interest of citizens they represent, and the constitution they take an oath to defend and uphold. Rush Holt abuses this precious public trust. We placed it in his hands to act on our behalf, and he has recklessly abandoned most of his constituents for partisan pursuits, special interests, and political profits. Mr. Holt lost his independence some time ago, and is continuing to sacrifice our general welfare for a radical element now in control of the Democratic Party and our Congress. Rush Holt will continue to surrender our interests to transient tentacles of civic pollution extending from a crusading Democrat horde that plunders taxpayers, pillages the public purse, and squeezes the economic vitality from our vibrant nation.

The list of links found below only represents a tiny portion of the public record pertaining to Rush Holt’s campaign benefactors. They are a curious crew of special favorites peddling their influence through Rush Holt's open door policy. The wise citizens of New Jersey's 12th Congressional District must take their seat back on November 2, and forever closing it on Rush Holt and his collusive crew of cronies.

Rush Holt is personally and financially attached to the interests that support him. A majority of the total amount of money flowing into our congressman’s campaign treasure trove comes from special interests and corporate/Washington lobbyists outside of New Jersey or Princeton. They are the funding mechanism that enables Mr. Holt to spread falsehoods and construct nightmares that drive your passions. Mr. Holt has done their bidding, and now they do his, and that of the most radical elements in the Democratic Party. Democrats, and all the venomous vehicles of their apparatus, are pushing a sweeping social agenda, with vigorous and concerted efforts, while they still have a majority in Congress, to alter the relationship between American citizens and the federal government. The wise and free citizens of America must reconfigure the balance of power on November 2, and put these menacing elements in the minority where it belongs.

Rush Holt's Futile Schemes

WARNING: Do not break the law before, during, or after reading anything I mention.

Rush Holt, the radical sophists, mystical dreamers, and dissimulative demagogues nestled in the Democrat Party, are really “the privileged few.” They are controlling Congress, and taking advantage of our dire economic distresses to hastily push through a sweeping social agenda that runs contrary to popular will, common sense, constitutional authority, practical reality, and personal property. If you disagree with this profuse Democrat platform, they will tell you that horrible consequences will surely follow.

Democrats' say everything is in a state of crisis, from education to the environment, from healthcare to the economy, and now they are radically transforming society and the relationship citizens have with the federal government. These troublesome disseminators of worrisome portents have hijacked our Congress, with slim majorities, and are bringing us on a dangerous ride aboard the Utopian Express, next stop on the high speed line, taxpayer insolvency and federal dependency, where there is no liberty, no personal property, no security, no justice, and no personal responsibility - but there is a sunset. They are subjecting all of us to the whimsical dreams of liberal philosophy. Rush Holt has joyfully joined this utopian cabal. He is too willing to participate in the wondrous journey led by the liberal/progressive menace running Congress for the past four years.

Rush Holt sat in Congress for more than a decade, pleasing partisan loyalties, as we watched jobs leave our district, state, and nation, witnessed a plummeting dollar, hindered by commercial restraints, unfair foreign trade practices, an unequal tax structure, rising unemployment, increased foreclosures, and, generally, economic stagnation.

We need to turn back the liberal/progressive manipulators of public trust, treasure, and discretion. We should no longer let our public servants, our rights, our seat, our voice in Congress, and our children's future, be taken for granted by shrewd career politicians, party operatives, special interests, and Washington lobbyists that all prosper at public expense.

During a time of economic distress, threatening foreign dispositions, and extreme political ideologies polarizing populations for political expediency, and distracting this nation from engaging in a sober debate about accomplishing real political reform, economic renewal, and a return to republican principles, we need a representative who is not beholden to any other interest than that of the citizens in New Jersey’s Twelfth Congressional District and the U.S. Constitution. We do not need any more politicians engaging in popular posturing that is so prevalent these days, and one that will not misconstrue enumerated powers. We need someone who does not bathe in the polluted spring of corporate influence, does not bend in the face of liberal extremism and rigorous debate, will not swim in the swamp with special interests, and will not surrender our vote to a misguided element within the Democrat Party. Rush Holt does all of this, and will continue doing so if the wise citizens of the district do not remove him from office on November 2, 2010.

Mr. Holt, and his high-powered public relation firms, and other politically active characters injecting their venomous fictions into the process, are doing what they do best, destroy, defame, and distract. They use fear to move you. We use reason and facts to unmask and dismantle their futile efforts. Rush Holt's campaign war chest is a well stocked treasure trove with liquidity pouring in from a vast assortment of corporate peddlers residing outside the district, which is now being ruthlessly deployed in full force to disguise, distort, and deflect the real issues we face as citizens of a free Republic.

The recent political ads - run by our congressman's team of filthy propagandists and Democrat operatives, combined with the artful practices and financial support of special interest groups - do nothing constructive, but they do conjure up illusory depictions of a mysterious monster, one that is part of “a privileged few,” and one that will plunder your benefits, cut your wages, denigrate your liberties, stifle democracy, and steal the American Dream from you and your loved ones. This is plainly demagoguery. It is so easy to use that no honest or credible public servant should even pay money to demonstrate it, let alone condone it. Rush Holt, and his well served wire-pullers, quickly dispatch ideal evils and construct blatant fabrications to defile the character of their challengers because there can be no justification for, nor defense of, the reckless congressional spending binge that has gone on for too long. Rush Holt has increased the national debt, exacerbated the federal budget deficit, diminished state sovereignty, and ravaged private industry and property with higher taxes and more regulatory burdens. The citizens of the district, state, and nation do not need any more congressional impediments or barriers to prosperity. It is time to cut some purse strings and prune the rapidly growing federal tentacles. We can start on November 2, 2010.

Rush Holt’s Unhealthy Non-Profit Alliance

WARNING: Do not break the law before, during, or after reading anything I mention.

Rush Holt’s alliance with the non-profit health industry is a diseased form of public corruption. Our representative has accumulated several speacial favorites over his decade long residency in Congress. Some have greatly benefited from their cozy relationship with our representative. Many non-profit organizations are doing very well during the “Great Recession” the rest of us are currently experiencing. There is no doubt that certain non-profits perform great public services for the most vulnerable in our district, especially during this uncertain period of economic malaise. It is a fact, though, that they receive private donations, and volunteer efforts, from private citizens and businesses residing in the district. This is needed in a local community, neighbors selflessly helping each other out. Although, these functions should be wholly funded and maintained by state, county, municipalities, private individuals, and businesses, with local taxes, not national resources from the federal government.

The problem with Rush Holt and the liberal/progressive agenda is that they believe Congress can spend federal taxpayer money on anything whatsoever. This mentality springs from a misconstruction of the U.S. Constitution. This is certainly not a recent development, it has been a time tested tradition that many public servants have participated in, and will continue, unless we correct their misguided reading of congressional discretion. It is time for the federal government to stop spending money on all these non-profits, because they can, and should, be sustained by the local resources derived from their own states, counties, townships, and individuals. If the City of Trenton wants to construct and maintain social vehicles for personal improvement that help the most disadvantaged among us, then it is up to the City of Trenton, Mercer County, and New Jersey residents to fund these noble and needed pursuits, not the taxpayers from California, Florida, and New York.

Another problem, maybe even more pernicious, with this federal alliance with non-profits, is that there is too much favoritism, and a strong propensity for certain individuals and organizations to corrupt our public officials for special favors that benefit very few among us. These unfair federal practices must end. All federal appropriations must be attached to a specific duty arising under a constitutionally enumerated power granted to Congress. The federal spiggot of taxpayer money is fully cranked open for all sorts of reasons and endeavors. Valuable national resources are being dangerously diverted during a time when the national debt and federal budget deficits are mounting. These incidents of favoritism and extravagant spending are common occurances that need serious scrutiny.

One particular example of this incidious alliance is the special relationship Marshall Cohen has with Rush Holt. This relationship is one based on reciprocal rewards and favoritism. Mr. Cohen is a beneficiary of taxpayer money, and has special access to our public servant. Both Mr. Cohen and Mr. Holt serve as trustee’s http://bit.ly/dnomBU, http://bit.ly/bxWFju of the Family Guidance Center, which will be the proud recipient of recent federal taxpayer money http://bit.ly/boHkDs. Not only is Mr. Cohen’s and Mr. Holt’s organization receiving federal taxpayer money, dished out by a conduit non-profit, Mr. Cohen has also received the great honor of being the special guest of Rush Holt at the State of the Union Speech http://bit.ly/95Dr4f earlier this year.

Another example of this unhealthy alliance manifests itself in the special relationship between Rush Holt and Judith M. Persichilli from Pennigton, New Jersey, President and CEO of Catholic Health East http://www.che.org/, a non-profit health organization. Mrs. Persichilli is a contributor to Rush Holt http://bit.ly/cZBI2c, http://bit.ly/cJiEee, and Catholic Health East has been the proud recipient of federal taxpayer money http://bit.ly/8Y1gPw.

Rush Holt and his special friends are profiting from taxpayer money at a time when that money should be used servicing the national debt, correcting federal budget imbalances, and providing for our common defense. These are the primary duties of our national government, not funding and maintaining non-profit organizations. This kind of special treatment and access must stop now. It is truly disturbing to this citizen, at least, that this federal behavior is so blatantly accepted. Our public servants in Congress must not be engaged in satisfying the multitude of friendly flatterers and special interests that seek federal favors in the form of grants and access. The citizens of this district, state, and nation must attend to our national duties as individuals of a free Republic, and exert our proper power and influence directly on the process. We are the agents of our own destiny. We can start this November by voting Rush Holt out of office, so our common interests will prevail in Congress, not the select few who have a cozy relationship with our public servant.
